ANSWER: The current pick up in the
channel. because you are jumoing at slack, the current will
pick up by the middle of race until you are in the cove. If
you are a slow swimmer, you will swim in an arc to compensate
for the current. If you are a fast swimmer, you will aim more
directly to the cove.
QUESTION:
Do you recommend a wetsuit?
ANSWER: If it is your first time,
I would say yes as the wetsuit gives you bouyancy so you can't
really sink and retains body heat. be sure to practice in your
wetsuit before the event.
QUESTION:
How are the currents and temperature of the water?
ANSWER: Temperature is about 60
to 63 degrees. current will be slack.
QUESTION:
How strong of a swimmer do you think one should be to swim this
swim?
ANSWER: You should be decent and
be able to swim 45 to 60 minutes
QUESTION:
The ferry returns to pier 41 is that correct? at what time will
it return?
ANSWER: The boat returns to Pier
41 to the same place where swimmers and guests will board it.
It takes the boat approximatelly 10 to 15 minutes to come back
to the pier after the last swimmer has jumped off the boat.
By walking back to Aquatic Park it may take approximatelly 10
minutes right on time to see the first fastest swimmers arriving
to the finish line.
QUESTION:
Will I be able to add more guests/spectators for the ferry ride
at a later date? or must they all be signed up when I sign up
for the swim?
ANSWER: There are 350 swimmers and
the boat holds capacity of 500. So the sooner you register your
guests would be great to avoid that it may get full soon. But
you still can bring your guests and pay $ 25.00 at the registration
and check-in desk. You can send a check for $25.00 per guest
to Water World Swim at the address below. Indicate the name
